LG TV, Computers, Appliances and Air Conditioners, Life's Good with LG and its range of products.
But LG, as the manufacturer, seriously consider discounting the rear speaker add-on when one purchases any of your compatible Y-series soundbars (which do not start off cheap to begin with I must add), as the option is actually what takes your main product's performance from good to truly fantastic. I would encourage anyone who buys a Y-series soundbar to purchase the rear speaker kit. I do sincerely hope that LG makes the rear surrounds more accessible to consumers as they are a pricey option (if not purchased on a special). Trust me, it's a night-and-day difference watching surround sound and Atmos content with the rear speakers connected versus the standalone soundbar. I would sincerely like to request LG consider having the optional rear surrounds be offered as a discounted add-on when a consumer purchases any of your Y-series soundbars because, really, your organisation is selling itself short with product satisfaction by making it seem like consumers won't miss out much by not having the rear speakers. The change in audio experience that the optional rear surrounds provides are what turn a good product into a fantastic product. The point I'd like to make is that the rear speakers shouldn't be undersold or posed as a by-the-by option for the compatible Y-series soundbars by LG. The immersion watching Atmos content is now sublime, and just the general 5.1 surround performance is a bit of a cinematic game-changer at home. The SN7Y went from being a decent system, with no real gripes to mention, to a truly exceptional sound system, all because of the rear speaker add-on. I put on a few shows/movies/games, and OMG, the sound experience has now suddenly come to life!
Then, during the course of this week, I finally sprung for the optional rear surround speakers and got them hooked up yesterday. Using the soundbar for movies and gaming for the past few months has been decent, but nothing extraordinary. I purchased the SN7Y a few months ago (July '21) for the Amtos functionality, and it's been a pretty decent using an Xbox and the soundbar 4K video passthrough functionality (I have an older TV which doesn't have eARC, so true Dolby Atmos signal can't pass from the tele back to the soundbar).
I have to express some discontent with LG for a moment.
