I remember the the huge improvement that windows XP was compared to windows 95, 98 & me desktops going back over 20 years. I have kept the XP laptop as I have software that will not run on windows 10/11 but I do not use it much (rarely now) as I have other laptops with windows 10/11.
It is geting much more difficult to run windows XP and only a few progarmmes still work, many do not. Windows XP has no support now, but some programmes do still work or use older versions such as AVG 2018. Some browsers are not free and require subscription. The new version of My Pal browser is changing, so it will be based on firefox rather than pale moon. Pale moon no longer works on XP, only windows 7 and above. Maxthon would not connect and was blocked, I even tried switching off my antivirus and firewall but still would not connect-windows security issues.
In some cases the versions were old 2017, or some on the list have dropped XP and only work on windows 7 and above. Some of the alternative browsers installed but were blocked by my computer and some would not install. My internet explorer version 8 in windows XP will not connect, I think the certificates are out of date which may be the problem and no longer supported versions which are part of windows XP. I have tried other browsers on the list recently on windows XP pro, but could not get them to work, I spent a day trying them all.
